Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy (BHRT)
BHRT Hormone Implants
Hormone pellets are small crystalline slow-release implants containing 100% body-identical hormones, offered at our Peoria med spa. The pellets are placed under the skin and options include both estradiol and testosterone. Implants are typically given every 3 to 6 months for women and about every 5 to 6 months for men. A blood test is required two weeks prior to implantation and again at least every six months to monitor hormone levels and adjust dose or frequency if needed. At AZ Med Spa 48 in Peoria, our clinical guidelines follow best practices to ensure normal therapeutic blood levels are maintained.
For women, if you still have a uterus, you will also be prescribed a progestogen/progesterone to prevent the risk of developing endometrial hyperplasia that increases risk of endometrial cancer. Estrogen implants should be considered a non-reversable HRT that cannot be removed once inserted. If you are planning a family within 12 months of the treatment, this option is not suitable.
